About This Course
This Master Edition consolidates Entering Your Client's World into a single volume with ten modules. It supersedes prior two-part editions. The course is a systemic clinical training for community-based practice with immigrant families, drawing on a systemic integrative theoretical orientation (Bowen multigenerational family systems, Minuchin structural family therapy, Boszormenyi-Nagy's contextual and intergenerational frameworks, narrative family therapy, and Bronfenbrenner's ecosystemic lens).
Content has been expanded to include five composite families (adding Cape Verdean and Brazilian families to the prior Haitian, Ukrainian, and Mexican-Guatemalan composites), two additional modules (Module 9 on Faith, Spirituality, and Traditional Healing; Module 10 on Youth, Families, and the First 90 Days), and a full augmentation layer including scripted clinical demonstration dialogues, branching decision scenarios, per-module skill application exercises, and expanded evidence integration.
The course's instructional level remains introductory. It is written for pre-licensed counselors, MFT and social work interns, and clinicians in their first one to three years of licensed practice entering community-based work with immigrant families. Graduate-level clinical frameworks are present; pacing and scaffolding are calibrated to the novice reader.
